US automaker General Motors will temporarily stop advertising on Twitter. That decision was made after social media was taken over by Elon Musk.
The largest US automaker reports that it is in talks with Twitter “to understand the direction of the platform under its new ownership.”
According to GM, this is the normal course of business. “As always with a significant change to a multimedia platform, we have temporarily suspended our paid advertising.”
Elon Musk is not only the owner of Twitter, but also the CEO of the Tesla automaker.
There is a lot of talk about Musk’s acquisition of Twitter. For example, it is speculated that Musk would relax the rules and perhaps allow former US President Donald Trump to use Twitter again. The Republican was banned after allegedly calling for violence and encouraging the assault on the Capitol.
“Humor is daylight saving time on Twitter,” Musk tweeted Friday afternoon (local time).
Twitter will also have an advisory board that will make decisions on tweet content and account blocking, Musk said. The richest man in the world wants people with all kinds of different points of view to sit on that council.
