Glyphosate trial: condemned on appeal, the activists go to cassation

Barely three days after hearing the Toulouse Court of Appeal quash the judgmentCourt of Appeal of Toulouse quashing the Foix judgment which had acquitted them in June 2021, the 21 anti-glyphosate activists prosecuted for having painted cans green of phytosanitary products on sale in Ariège in 2016 confirmed that it would not stop there.

Even if the convictions (300 € suspended fine for each) are symbolic, it is on the question of the state of necessity that these activists want to continue the legal fight.

“It is essential that the state of necessity be finally recognized for the actions of activists alerting to the serious dangers that certain productions or cultures represent for the ecology, the health of living things and biodiversity, they say in a press release. The climate catastrophe that we are experiencing must lead the courts to use the existing legal arsenal, including article 122-7 of the penal code”.
