Glynis Johns died on Thursday at the age of 100. The British actress was best known for her role as Mrs. Banks in Mary Poppins (1964).

“Glynis navigated her way through life with intelligence, humor and a love of performing, impacting millions of lives,” says her manager. “It’s a somber day in Hollywood. We mourn not only our dear Glynis, but the end of a golden era in Hollywood.”

In addition to films, Johns also appeared in dozens of films and plays. For her role in the musical A Little Night Music she won a Tony Award in 1973. She also received an Oscar nomination for her role in The Sundowners (1960). She played her last role in 1999, as a grandmother in the film Superstar.
