If you wanted to own a sequin glove by Michael Jackson, you had to shell out a lot of money for it: The glove was auctioned off at Heritage Auctions for a mere 112,000 US dollars. It was by far not the most expensive souvenir that went under the hammer.
In addition to the glove of the late “King of Pop”, several posters and other items from the entertainment industry were auctioned.
Expensive keepsakes
Michael Jackson wore the white glove in 1984 as part of his “Victory” tour, now the item of clothing has changed hands for the equivalent of around € 95,000. Concert posters and leaflets were more expensive than the glove.
For example, a poster from 1958 depicting icons like Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis fetched 119,000 US dollars. The said poster advertised three “Big Beat” concerts in Madison (Wisconsin) and depicted a total of 16 bands and artists.
Not quite as expensive, but still an expensive souvenir from a concert, was a flyer from a Bob Dylan gig. In 1963, he played one of his first big gigs in New York. More than two dozen bidders wanted to climb the list, but in the end there was of course only one winner, who paid a price of 4,000 US dollars.
A series of souvenirs from singer Linda Ronstadt brought in over $ 65,000, the most expensive piece being a piano that the Heart Like A Wheel singer bought for her San Francisco estate for $ 35,000 now the new owner knocks in the keys.
