Getting a new phone is a two-sided coin. The joy of new hardware can reliably destroy the need to install everything on it, set it up and so on. There are ways to save the entire anabasis. But as always, there is a price to pay for convenience.
As usual, we start with a parable from some science fiction that is slowly coming true. In one episode Black mirror the main character drops her phone which breaks. Because she is emotionally dependent on the connection with the other party, she buys a new phone in a fit of panic. It then charges and perhaps even synchronizes with some kind of pad, after which it finds itself directly in the call, which was interrupted by the fall to the tiled floor.
For completeness, let’s add that the episode Be Right Back it was first broadcast ten years ago. That was the time when the Samsung Galaxy S4 competed with the iPhone 5s and the Nokia Lumia 1020 followed them. Today, some Apple fan could write to me in the discussion that it is not such science fiction, just buy an iPhone. And even on the other side of the barricade, you can enjoy similar comfort – you just have to switch between phones of the same manufacturer, which do not differ much from each other in Android versions. Then the manufacturer can prepare an application for you for easier transfer.

If you like science fiction, then you know that it always has two parts. The first is optimistic, showing cities full of robots or expeditions into deep space. Then something goes badly wrong and people start being indiscriminately eliminated by those robots or aliens.

The second act of transferring “consciousness” from one device to another is not so dramatic, but rather unpleasant. Logically, I find it easy to transfer, for example, banking and payment applications, so their usually complex activation is waiting for you anyway. And it got even trickier when the option to use biometric security disappeared from several apps. Only reinstallation helped.

Sometimes it’s not a good idea to start over
Then all that remains is to proceed to a radical solution, such as factory settings and gradual manual transfer and setting of everything necessary. For a person who uses their phone to the fullest, it’s a few long hours of tedious setup. On the other hand, you will avoid any problems, only the really important things will remain in your phone and you will get to know the phone itself and its settings perfectly. Sometimes it’s good to start over with a clean slate.
