On Wednesday evening around 22:00 a shooting took place at the De Kring trailer park in Hoogkerk, a village near Groningen. On Thursday the shooting was reported by the Daily newspaper of the North (DvhN) announced that it concerns kickboxer Michael Duut alias ‘The Dream Crusher’. Duut’s friend, social media influencer Alex Soze, confirmed this to the newspaper: “He was shot in both legs.”

Moth about a horse

According to DvhN the kickboxer from the light heavyweight category would have gotten into a conflict about a horse. The owner of the horse, on which Duut’s nephew rode, would have come to the trailer park on Wednesday evening to get the story from Duut.

YouTuber Alex Soze, who recently spent some time behind bars for assault, told the newspaper that the horse owner caused quite a stir on Wednesday night. He allegedly kicked the kickboxer’s door, causing Duut to go outside.

In the confrontation that followed, the as yet unknown suspect allegedly pulled out a gun. According to Soze, his friend was then shot in both legs and taken to the hospital. And the shooter also reportedly did not get away unscathed – he reportedly received some good blows.

Both ‘The Dream Crusher’ and the man with the gun have been arrested and questioned by police. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Michael Duut

In an interview with Vice Duut told in 2018 how he started kickboxing.

“When I was about ten, I had a fight with a big boy who was six years older. He had pushed or kicked me and then I went to my father with that story. He walked with me and said: ‘Now, fight it out.’ I hit the boy so hard with my right hand that he immediately went down.”

Michael’s father, who was a boxer himself, decided to take him to a kickboxing school right after. In the years that followed, Duut worked his way up to become a successful and professional fighter.

However, ‘The Dream Crusher’ has had to deal with injuries more than once in the past. He broke his hand during training and tore his biceps in 2014. In 2016 he made a successful comeback. His won pot was by Glory even voted ‘Fight of the Year’.

So you could say that Michael is used to coming back from an injury, although getting shot in the leg twice is of course a different story.
