Krefeld. Extensive refurbishment

The 2,400 square meter Glockenspitzhalle is to be extensively renovated in the coming year for around 14 million euros. The energy-related renovation of the facade and the roof, an upgrade of the existing grandstand systems, the modernization of the technical building equipment and the renewal of the sanitary areas are planned. The corresponding planning services have already been commissioned by the central building management (ZGM) of the city of Krefeld. The administration intends to present the concrete planning to the ZGM works committee for a resolution in the fourth quarter of this year.

Alternative occupancy options

During the construction period, the hall will have to be completely closed for an estimated 15 months from the end of June 2024. Last week there was a working meeting with the sports and school departments of the city administration and the main users of the Glockenspitz sports hall. Representatives of the HSG Krefeld Niederrhein, the Crefeld hockey and tennis club CHTC, the CSV and the Glockenspitz vocational college were informed by the central building management about the planned renovation work and were able to give tips and suggestions. The city administration is currently examining alternative occupancy options for the planned construction phase. The Yayla Arena is also an option for HSG Krefeld Niederrhein league games.
