Globo will have Flamengo x Palmeiras in the 1st round

CBF confirmed on Tuesday (11) the detailed table of the Brazilian Championship 2021, which starts on May 29. Globo chose the duel between Flamengo x Palmeiras to open the competition’s works. The match will be shown to a large part of Brazil, on May 30, starting at 4 pm (Brasília time).

It will be the first meeting between the teams after the controversial final of the Super Cup of Brazil, on April 11. The game had confusion between the teams, but was praised for its high technical quality. The column found that Globo’s idea is to start with a big game to get expressive numbers from Ibope.

The narration and broadcast teams will only be set closer to the game. However, there is a chance that Galvão Bueno will narrate the inaugural match of the Brasileirão on Globo. Flamengo x Palmeiras will only not be shown for Ceará and Rio Grande do Sul, which will follow a regionalized broadcast of Ceará x Guild.

In pay TV, SporTV will also have strong bets. On Saturday (29), at 9 pm, Globo’s sports channel will broadcast the game between São Paulo and Fluminense, two clubs that are with their soccer on the rise. The next day, Sunday (30), the broadcaster will have Internacional x Sport as its main attraction.

At TNT Sports, the opening of the broadcasts will be with Bahia x Santos, on Saturday (29), also at 9pm. It will be the only game shown on the Warner channel. With the departure of Internacional after the end of the contract with the company (the club from Rio Grande do Sul is now a team entirely from Globo on open, pay and pay-per-view TV), TNT Sports will have little more than one game per round to show to your subscribers.

Globo has rights to the 20 Serie A clubs on open TV. In pay TV, the division is between 13 clubs for SporTV (Flamengo, Fluminense, Red Bull Bragantino, Chapecoense, Sao Paulo, Corinthians, America-MG, Atlético-MG, Sport, Internacional, Grêmio, Cuiabá and Atlético-GO) and 7 for TNT Sports (Palmeiras, Santos, Fortaleza, Ceará, Bahia, Juventude and Athletico). At PPV, only Athletico does not have a Premiere contract.
