Globo already knows which will be the broadcaster’s first free-to-air transmissions in the Brasileirão 2023. The list came out with the detailed table of the competition, published by CBF over the weekend. The games to be shown in the first 10 rounds of the championship were chosen.
In the first round, Globo will divide the country between Flamengo x Coritiba and Corinthians x Cruzeiro on April 16, a Sunday, at 4 pm (Brasília time). The breakdown of which regions get each game is usually released a day or two before the broadcast matches are played.
In the third round, on April 30th, only one game was booked by Globo, the classic carioca Flamengo x Botafogo. For the time being, the São Paulo square has no matches marked as open TV. The reason is the Conmebol calendar. Corinthians plays for Libertadores on Tuesday, May 2nd, and this makes it impossible to hold the classic against Palmeiras on Sunday. In addition, São Paulo and Santos also had their Copa Sudamericana matches scheduled for May 2nd.
Another uncertainty is in the 10th round, on June 11th. Globo has already booked Internacional x Vasco for 4 pm that day, a Sunday. But São Paulo x Palmeiras, the classic chosen by the channel to be broadcast in SP, depends on an adjustment with the Fifa date, since Tricolor plays on the previous Thursday for the Sul-Americana and the period for transferring players to the national teams starts on Monday. , day 12.
Another point that drew attention was the use of the maximum quota of three games in the division of squares in just two opportunities in the first 10 rounds. Globo has the right to choose three matches per round, normally dividing the country between a game focused on RJ, another on SP and a third for two specific squares.
But Globo has not been using it in the 38 rounds, usually because it had Série B to make up that division. Now that the second division will be on Band on open TV, it would be possible for the broadcaster to resume using the three simultaneous duels in the elite in all rounds, but there was no such change in criteria in this year’s table.
Check below the list of games chosen by Globo in the first version of the detailed table of the Brasileirão. The column always reminds you that tables are subject to change, either by broadcasters’ schedule, or for other calendar reasons.
