The Globetrotter travel company is slowly getting going again. After two years shaped by Corona, the group was able to triple its turnover in 2022.
Specifically, the Globetrotter Group achieved sales of 178 million francs with its 13 companies, the tour operator announced on Monday. Before that, however, sales had fallen by three quarters in the two years of the pandemic. Globetrotter has not yet reached the pre-corona level.
Travel destinations in North and Central America, Africa and Europe were particularly in demand in 2022. But the demand for trips to Australia and New Zealand also rose sharply after the countries opened up in May 2022. Only the destinations in Asia, with the exceptions of Thailand and Nepal, are still less in demand.
However, the travel group has not yet returned to the sales level of before the pandemic. Because according to earlier information, Globetrotter had a turnover of 242 million francs in 2019. So a good quarter more than in the past financial year. After all: At the end of March 2022, the travel company still expected a drop in sales of 40 percent compared to 2019.
