Global Proven Oil Reserves Increase by 1.1% in 2022, OPEC Reports

The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) reported that the volume of global proven oil reserves at the end of 2022 increased by 1.1% compared to 2021 and amounted to 1.564 trillion barrels.

And it stated in the annual statistical bulletin that “the proven reserves of crude oil in the world amounted to 1.564 trillion barrels (one billion barrels) at the end of 2022, an increase of 17 billion barrels, or 1.1%, over 2021 levels.”

And she pointed out that “the proven reserves of crude oil in OPEC member countries increased slightly to 1.244 trillion barrels at the end of 2022, after a decrease in 2021.”

Meanwhile, the organization stated that the world’s proven natural gas reserves at the end of 2022 amounted to about 210.06 trillion cubic meters, an increase of 2.4% over the previous year.
