Oil prices achieved weekly gains in global markets, with Brent crude, the international benchmark, recording about 2.5% and 2.5% for US West Texas Intermediate crude.
Oil prices rose significantly in the last sessions of March, Thursday, in light of the continuing geopolitical tensions in the world.
Upon settlement on Thursday, US crude futures contracts rose by 2.24% and ended trading at $83.17 per barrel, thus achieving monthly gains of 7.4%.
While global Brent crude futures contracts rose by 1.85% to $87 per barrel, and during this March contracts achieved gains of 7.15%.
Markets are awaiting the meeting of the OPEC+ group, which is implementing cuts in crude production to stabilize the global oil market.
Most markets were closed on Friday, March 29, 2024, on the occasion of the Good Friday holiday, and trading is scheduled to resume next Monday, April 1, 2024.
