Georgieva, chief executive of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), said the rise in global consumer prices could approach the highs of the current cycle, but could still persist.
Georgieva told Bloomberg Television in Sharm el-Sheikh, eastern Egypt, where the 27th session of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) is taking place.
“Bringing inflation back to the desirable level of around 2% will be more difficult,” he said, predicting that national and regional authorities will struggle to slow consumer price inflation to an acceptable pace.
