BEIJING, 12 SEPTEMBER/WAM/ His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, met with His Excellency Zhao Lijie, Speaker of the Parliament of the People’s Republic of China and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, at the Parliament headquarters in the capital, Beijing.
During the meeting, Al-Jarwan reviewed the efforts of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace in spreading and strengthening the culture of tolerance and peace around the world.
For his part, Zhao Lijie praised the Council’s efforts in this field, expressing his country’s understanding of the importance of spreading the values of tolerance and peace in the world. He expressed China’s welcome to strengthening bilateral cooperation between the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace and the Chinese Parliament and working to sign a memorandum of understanding to enhance joint work in this field.
In a related development, His Excellency Al Jarwan met with His Excellency Ding Li, Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Beijing.
During the meeting, the efforts of the “Global Council for Tolerance and Peace” and its efforts at the global level to promote the values of tolerance and peace were reviewed.
The Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister praised the Council’s role and stressed the strength of his country’s relations with the United Arab Emirates and noted the work to have China join the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace.
Al-Jarwan also met with Zhao Yidi, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shaanxi Province and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People’s Congress, during the official visit of His Excellency and his accompanying delegation, which aims to enhance cooperation and joint work in the areas of tolerance and peace.
The Council delegation, headed by Al-Jarwan, visited the China Foreign Relations University and discussed ways to enhance cooperation and joint work in order to enhance efforts to spread the values of tolerance and peace around the world.
