Flames are rising in the Gaza Strip following an airstrike on the 9th (local time), the third day of the armed conflict between the Palestinian armed faction Hamas and the Israeli army. 2023.10.9 AFP Yonhap News On the 9th (local time), five countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Italy, defined Hamas’ attack on Israel as a “terrorist act” and condemned it.
According to the White House, the five leaders issued a joint statement “expressing our firm and unified support for Israel and our unequivocal condemnation of Hamas and its egregious acts of terrorism.”
He continued, “We make it clear that Hamas’ terrorist acts have no justification or legality and must be universally condemned,” adding, “Terrorist acts can never be justified.”
“We will support Israel’s efforts to protect its country and people from such atrocities,” he said, adding, “We emphasize that now is not the time for any side hostile to Israel to use these attacks to pursue their own interests.”
“We all recognize the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people and support equal measures of fairness and freedom for both Israelis and Palestinians,” the statement said. “But Hamas does not represent those aspirations and does not represent the Palestinian people.” “It will only provide greater fear and bloodshed,” he added.
This can be interpreted as implying that the government will respond differently to the relatively moderate Palestinian autonomous government and Palestinian residents compared to the armed political faction Hamas and Hamas.
