Global Citizenship Education in Latin America and the Caribbean

The Regional Meeting for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Global Citizenship Education Network “Towards a world without walls: global citizenship education in SDG 4 – E2030 Agenda” was organized by the Regional Office for Education for Latin America and the Caribbean (OREALC / UNESCO Santiago) and the Asia-Pacific Center for Education for International Understanding (APCEIU), in collaboration with the Chilean Observatory of Educational Policies of the University of Chile (OPECH). The meeting took place on October 23 and 24, 2017 in Santiago, Chile, and brought together thinkers and activists from the region from civil society organizations, educational communities, social movements, government agencies and universities.

The objective of the meeting was to promote dialogue on the concept of Global Citizenship Education (GCED) and to explore a regional perspective in order to foster the formation of a network to strengthen the implementation of GCED in the context of Latin America and the Caribbean. This document is presented as a summary of the main topics that were addressed and discussed at the meeting.
