They estimate that the average annual growth in sales of in-game items such as NFTs in the segment over this period will be 21.8%.
“Blockchain technology has revolutionized the gaming industry by providing secure and transparent transactions, innovative gameplay mechanisms, and new methods of interaction,” the researchers emphasized.
In their opinion, the main drivers for the sector will be the growing popularity of NFTs, the attractiveness of Play-to-Earn models, as well as integration with mobile games. Smartphone users are already the largest demographic group of gamers, making them an ideal platform for further development, experts noted.
In terms of GameFi application types, they predict the highest growth rates for RPGs. According to them, role-playing games have “individual characters, themes, additional weapons and other features” that make them best suited to realize the possibilities of blockchain.
At the end of 2022, RPGs occupied 33.8% of the $128.6 billion Web3 gaming market, ahead of multiplayer and collection games.

Experts also pointed out that according to a report by the Blockchain Game Alliance, 51% of players consider connecting to blockchain applications to be a rather difficult process, and 37.2% cited weak gameplay as a problem.
