Global Airlines: A New Transatlantic Company Launches with Luxurious A380 Flights

While the aviation world is struggling to recover after a pandemic that has grounded it, some are still choosing to take risks and invest. This is the case of James Asquith, a young entrepreneur who is also the founder and director of Holiday Swap, an application that allows travelers to exchange their accommodation while on vacation. He made the crazy bet to launch a transatlantic company, called Global Airlines, between London and New York. A rather saturated market (American, British Airways, United, Jet Blue, Norse…). And with the A380, an aircraft largely abandoned by the companies as it is greedy in kerosene.

But while we believed this mythical plane dead and buried, James Asquith and its new company Global Airlines, announced the acquisition of a first Airbus A380 from Doric Aviation. Positioned on the high-end niche, the company announces that it wants to launch transatlantic flights from London to New York and Los Angeles.

Three new A380s within a few months

According to its founder, Global Airlines plans to have a fleet of around 100 long-haul aircraft by 2025. Their A380 First Class, with around 471 seats in total, will offer a luxurious experience including a suite spacious about 3 meters long, a double bed and a private toilet. It will be accompanied by Business, Premium, Economy and “Gamer” classes.

Thanks to major investors as well as the parent company, Holiday Swap, Global Airlines has chosen to acquire its first aircraft directly from Doric Aviation, rather than opting for the traditional route of leasing. The company wants to acquire three Airbus A380s “in the coming months”.
