Glennis Grace (44) played a key role in the gross assault on the Jumbo last February. Sources surrounding the investigation report it exclusively to RTL Boulevard. The singer landed the first blow at the Jumbo, after which a wave of violence broke out that focused on supermarket employees in Amsterdam Jordaan.
“What you see in the images will be discussed tomorrow and we would like to explain it tomorrow in the classroom”
The 44-year-old singer, whose real name is Glenda Batta, showed up at the supermarket just before 9pm after an accident with her son in the evening. She was shopping with a friend and was led out by a Jumbo employee while smoking an e-cigarette at the cashier.
After the teenager reentered through another entrance, he was led out again. Before the boy was out, he threw a shopping basket at the staff, as can be seen clearly from the camera images. As an employee then wanted to push him to the exit with a light force, Glennis’ son hooked his foot behind the door and fell. He lost his shoe in the process.

Once standing up, the singer’s son punched the employee in the head, as can also be seen in the images. There was a brief discussion at the exit of the supermarket, during which Glennis’ son punched one of the employees in the head once again. Shortly after, the two left, around half past seven.
An hour and a half later Glennis drove to the supermarket. According to sources surrounding the investigation, aware of the video images of the incident, three other suspects were already waiting for her in front of the Jumbo. The group then split up and entered the supermarket through two entrances in search of staff.
Two staff members were locked up in a small office by Glennis and one of the other suspects. After a brief altercation, the singer hit one of the staff members in the head with a half-open fist. The other employee was dragged out of the office by the boss and attacked by the group members. A third employee who rushed to the rescue was also affected.

Glennis also knelt the employee in the booth, according to well-placed sources on this site. A chase through the supermarket then began, with Glennis’s group chasing the store’s employees.
One of the employees pulled up a cart with cardboard to escape his attacker. Another had to take a flying kick in the face and was later attacked by three men as he lay on the ground. Glennis’s then-boyfriend put a knee on the man’s chest and punched him in the face. Almost all the events in the supermarket were captured in great detail by the security cameras, which were added to the criminal record.
After the fight, which lasted less than ten minutes, the group left the supermarket. After greeting outside, with a boxing or a kiss, the singer got back in the car and walked away. That same evening she would be arrested and detained at the police station.

The singer then told police she went to the supermarket because her son was allegedly attacked by four employees and injured his face and hand. According to Glennis, she was mocked by the store staff after she came to pick up a story. She claimed that she was not going to let the situation get out of hand, nor did she approve of the use of violence by co-defendants.
Glennis and four other suspects will appear in court in Amsterdam on Wednesday, where three judges will look into the case. The singer is suspected of public violence in association, premeditated assault and threats. In addition to Glennis, her 27-year-old ex-boyfriend, two 20-year-old Amsterdammers and a 50-year-old man from Loenen aan de Vecht are also on trial.
