“It just got out of hand and of course that should never have happened. But what can I sayGlennis looks back on the incident in the Jumbo. The singer was eventually given a community service order of 200 hours for this. “I’m almost done. I did it three times a week,” she says.
Then where did Glennis do her community service? “In a cemetery somewhere. Three times a week, six hours a day. And I ended up in a very nice team with all Amsterdammers.” Initially, Glennis was to carry out her sentence in a nursing home. “That came into the media and everyone had something to say about it.”
After the whole incident, Glennis ‘crazy enough’ had a club tour that should go ahead as far as she was concerned. “I was like: I am also a singer in the first place. I did not want to leave my band. They also depended on me. I just wanted to do what I love to do most and what I am good at. And that was just singing I was like: come on. Right now, right now, I need the stage. It was important to me that I let that continue at that moment.”
At the moment, her work as a singer is ‘pretty quiet’. “I think that when my community service is over, I can close it. I also hope for myself, but also for the people who will book me again.”
In addition, Glennis has lost quite a few friendships because of everything that has happened. “I think I thought that was the worst of all. I’m not the type to let a lot of people in. So if I let you in it’s real”, she says. “Then I will go through fire for you. There have been a few who have indeed just canceled me in my private life. I still find that very painful, but I have also given it a place. And again, I don’t deserve the beauty prize. But that was one of the things that did me a lot.”
