Glenn Hysén urges people to go and listen to Gustav Kasselstrand, party leader of the far-right Alternative for Sweden, at his May 1 speech in Gothenburg.
But the 64-year-old ex-footballer says he was duped.
– I am naive and stupid and believe that all people are good and nice, he says.
Alternative for Sweden was formed by representatives from the excluded youth union of Sweden Democrats, SDU, in 2018.
Among other things, the party wants Sweden to leave the EU. However, their most controversial proposals concern migration and human rights.
In addition to the proposal for extensive return migration, the party wants to see a stop to all immigration to Sweden. In addition, they are against gay marriage and want preschool to stop teaching LGBTQI issues.
Glenn Hysén appears in a clip
During the Friday afternoon, a clip was spread on the platform Xformerly Twitter, where the former great player in football, Glenn Hysén, urges people to listen to party leader Gustav Kasselstrand on his 1 May speech in Gothenburg.
– Go and listen to Gustav when he starts his Swexit tour, says the Gothenburg citizen in the clip.
But when Sportbladet reaches the 64-year-old, Hysen tells him that he has been deceived.
– It is chaos. Apparently I have done something that is not good. I am completely uninterested in politics, so I have no idea what this is all about, he says.
Hysen then goes on to tell how it happened when he saw the clip.
– What I got was a Memmo, I work with it. You send greetings to people right and left, if they have a birthday or celebrate Easter or that you wish them a happy midsummer. Yes, everything. I don’t even remember what this is for anything. But I’m just saying it my way then. I don’t think it would be anything dangerous or political. I can only say that I had no fucking idea. Not a whiff. Then you should start thinking about Memmo then. Maybe they need to check what kind of people are sending stuff in.

The son Tobias Hysén got in touch
What do you want to say to people who think you are behind this?
– I can only say that I am the same person as before this happened. I have been deceived. I am naive and stupid and think that all people are good and nice. I have no fucking idea about this.
Will you report the post?
– I do not know what to do. I have no idea.
Has the family reacted?
– No, I have only heard from my eldest son Tobbe. He said something like “dude what the hell have you done now?” And then I didn’t know what I had done.
Glenn Hysén is one of Sweden’s most prominent soccer players of all time. The centre-back represented IFK Göteborg, PSV Eindhoven, Fiorentina and Liverpool, among others. He has been awarded the Guldbollen twice and played 68 A international matches for Sweden.
