Glencore affair: Snh, accused and civil party on the heels of the litigants

The National Hydrocarbons Company (Snh) and the National Refining Company (Sonara) are the two Cameroonian companies cited in the Glencore scandal. Agents working or having worked in these companies are involved in secret transactions carried out by the Anglo-Swiss trader as part of its operations in the country between 2007 and 2018, against the payment of bribes of around 7 billion of FCFA. Paradoxically, the Snh, one of the accused as an institution, put itself in the position of vigilante, after its managing director, Adolphe Moudiki, requested and obtained from the President of the Republic, the opening of a judicial investigation at the Special Criminal Court (Tcs) to track down the culprits.

Would the ADG of the Snh be spared from this scandal? We are tempted to answer in the affirmative, as it is true that it is he who maneuvers to activate the lever of justice. It is therefore difficult to see the boss of the Snh being made harakiri if he does not already have the certainty of being spared, and above all an idea of the identity of the litigants, including several of his collaborators. If at the end of its investigation, the Tcs arrives at the same conclusion as the American justice system, it goes without saying that this affair will undoubtedly affect many personalities, including in the inner circle, where senior executives of the presidency of the Republic. It is also not excluded that the Cameroonian justice system in its counter-investigation will not find anything to grind. But this possibility seems very unlikely.
