Glen Schofield: The Callisto Protocol will be bigger than Dead Space!

Since he was behind the creation of both games, no one knows better than him…

A The Callisto Protocol it will essentially be a spiritual sequel to Dead Space, as Glen Schofield was behind Isaac Clarke and is now trying to create a similar sci-fi survival horror in another world (which promises to be revolutionary again; but with Krafton’s Striking Distance).

Schofield is IGNIn an interview with, did you get a question about how similar The Callisto Protocol is to Dead Space? To this, Schofield said that the studio knew that the environment of the two IPs would be very different, and he considered this important. We’re going to play, and at first we might think we’re dealing with Dead Space, but then we’re going to realize that it’s a different story with different characters in a completely different universe. They themselves tell the story differently, and the fights won’t be the same either. That’s why he says he doesn’t think there’s much chance people will say it’s Dead Space 4.

We’ve heard before that The Callisto Protocol takes place in the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, or PUBG universe. Well, that’s not the case anymore (maybe it’s better because we have a hard time tying this surviving horror in our heads to battle royale…). That’s what Schofield was talking about. When they started implementing The Callisto Protocol, the people at Krafton asked if they could put the game on the PUBG timeline, he wasn’t against it. He thinks PUBG is huge, and a year later, however, it was thought that in the case of the story, they did what the developers wanted, including the characters, the universe, and they announced it late. They didn’t want to confuse people, so they announced they had taken The Callisto Protocol out of the world of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.

The game will be released on December 2 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
