President Rumen Radev begins consultations with teams of parliamentary groups in the National Assembly. At the meetings on Friday, the head of state invited Dimitar Glavchev, the candidate for acting prime minister, to the presidency.
The former speaker of the National Assembly is expected to present the composition of the official cabinet to the president, for which he had 7 days. Glavchev gave a request that he would present a government composition of uncorrupted and untainted experts and that he would present the candidates to the political forces as well.
After the consultations announced by the president, the PP-DB stated that they are convinced that the official cabinet should concentrate above all on its main task – to ensure fair and well-organized elections. “The coalition “We continue the change – Democratic Bulgaria” will not participate in the composition of the cabinet in any form and will not give political support to individual ministers.
GERB stated that they do not intend to offer experts for the caretaker government. Toma Bikov from GERB commented that
there is no agreement between Boyko Borisov and President Rumen Radev for Dimitar Glavchev to be nominated as a candidate for acting prime minister, which is hinted at by PP-DB.
Bikov recalled that the texts for changes to the Constitution were proposed by PP-DB, and GERB does not intend to propose experts for the caretaker government.
“DPS, we do not want to participate in the official cabinet. If we receive an invitation, we will refuse.” This was stated by the chairman of DPS Delyan Peevski. According to him, the cabinet has been Euro-Atlantic until now, but PP-DB is trying to forget it. “These 9 months are unforgettable, so they cannot be forgotten”, believes Peevski and specified that the texts in the Constitution concerning the official cabinet, it is clear who proposed them. “You see the signatures of Hristo Ivanov and company,” commented the DPS leader.
According to BSP leader Cornelia Ninova, the chaos is deepening, and the BSP categorically refuses to participate in the official cabinet. ITN stated that the responsibility for the official office will lie with PP-DB and GERB, and “Vazrazhdane” believes that thanks to PP-DB we will have an official office of GERB and DPS. The leader of “Vazrazhdane” Kostadin Kostadinov stated that PP-DB are to blame for the political situation in the country.
Against this background, the chairperson of the CEC, Kamelia Neikova, announced that the CEC is ready for elections for people’s representatives and elections for the European Parliament 2 in 1 on June 9. At this stage, it is certain that early parliamentary elections cannot take place before this date.
