The S-UBG thus enables the company to be succession through the external manager Mathias Schlatt, who acquires the remaining shares. Schlatt takes over the management of both companies from Knut-Ulrich Röttger, who acquired the company in 1999 and has been managing partner since then.
The now 45-year-old manager started his career in his parents’ company Schlatt Glashandelsgesellschaft mbH in Bocholt: “Mathias Schlatt has been in the glass industry for over 20 years and has experience, good contacts and extensive specialist knowledge,” says Bernhard Kugel, CEO of S- UBG group. Knut-Ulrich Röttger is also happy to be able to hand his life’s work into good hands with the support of the S-UBG: “The fair negotiations and professional advice ultimately led to two established companies staying at the Kempen location and securing jobs will.”
Established full-range supplier
The Thermoglas and Trienes companies were founded in 1976 and 1954 in Kempen on the Lower Rhine. Today, both of them operate on the market with almost 100 employees as full-range suppliers in the production, processing and finishing of glass. There is particular expertise in the manufacture of insulating glass, for example as soundproofing, sun protection or safety glass. In addition, Trienes produces and sells high-quality glass products with special properties for industry and building construction. The main product is single-pane safety glass (ESG), which is prepared on in-house machines and then toughened in the ESG furnace. This gives the glass its safety-relevant properties and stability. For example, the ESG product SECURIT® is four to five times more resistant to breakage than conventional glass.
“Whether coated glass, self-cleaning or safety glass – glass is now a high-tech material and the demands on producers are increasing continuously,” explains Schlatt. “Energy-efficient construction or safety standards in the construction sector are just a few of the drivers. We have always invested here on the Lower Rhine so that we can meet customer needs and legal standards at any time. ”
Well positioned in the growing market
“We are investing in two solid companies with long-term stable earnings,” said Kugel. “The law increasingly prescribes the use of safety glass, and the ongoing construction boom and the need in future industries have given glass manufacturers constant development for years.” The new owners also see prospects in internationalization. Schlatt: “There is still a lot of potential in the expansion of our supraregional and international sales networks. And for additional production capacities, there is already an expansion area at our location in Kempen. ”
