Glas Trösch to Build Ultra-Modern Factory on Former Philips Site for Energy-Saving Glass Production

Glas Trösch wants to have all permits in place by the end of this year, so that construction of the factory can start next year, on the site of the former Philips light bulb factory. “It concerns an area of about 35 hectares,” says the mayor. “The site has been desolate for 10 years now. We are pleased that the old buildings are now being demolished and replaced by an ultra-modern factory to make flat glass, cool it down and store it. We are talking about a production process that n is 700 meters long.”

Production would start in 2025. The Swiss group wants to produce high-quality insulating glass there for more than 300,000 houses every year. “That glass will also gain in importance in the future, if we want to keep our energy bill under control,” concludes Nijs.
