The promotional campaign for the film Gladiator 2 is gaining momentum. Yesterday, a new, action-packed trailer for the production hit the web, and – as we already informed you – a few days ago, Ridley Scott in an interview for a French magazine Premiere revealed that he has an idea for a third installment of the franchise in mind. The catch is that the director’s statement may be a spoiler about the ending of the upcoming film.

Let us recall the words of the legendary creator:

I’m thinking about the idea for Gladiator 3. Seriously! I’ve started this process… The End Gladiator 2 it reminds The Godfatherin which Michael Corleone gets a job he didn’t want and begins to wonder, “Father, what do I do now?” The next part would be about a man who doesn’t want to be where he is.

Screen Rant, based on the above comment, speculates that Ridley Scott may have more or less consciously revealed how the film will end. Gladiator 2 – these assumptions seem probable because the director has behaved in a similar way in the past. According to journalists, in the finale of the upcoming film Lucius Verus, portrayed by Paul Mescal, will not only survive the events on screen (unlike Maximus from the previous part), but will also become emperorwhich will lay the foundation for a possible Gladiator 3.

There was a lot of talk online about Lucius eventually sharing Maximus’ fate and dying. American pop culture portals, however, agree that such a move would look like “reheated cutlets”, definitively eliminating the chance of another installment of the film.
