Gladbach wins 0-6 in Champions League, frustrating evening for Suárez

Shakhtar – Gladbach 0-6
Gladbach played the first two Champions League matches against Real Madrid and Internazionale in a draw and presented himself in Ukraine as the outsider of this billion-dollar ball. Alessane Plea was the great man with the Germans. He put Gladbach in the lead after eight minutes and took the 0-3 after 26 minutes. Before that, Valeriy Bondar made his own goal.

Gladbach tightened the thumbscrews a bit more before half-time with the 0-4. Shakhtar did not believe in it in the second half and seemed to have had enough. Lars Stindl made 0-5 after more than an hour and the German party got some more shine when Plea completed his hat-trick.

Thanks to the big victory, Gladbach is certainly a day leader in Group B. Inter and Real play against each other on Wednesday evening.

Lokomotiv – Atlético 1-1
Atlético Madrid on Tuesday failed to take over the lead from Bayern Munich. Les Rojiblancos did not get further than 1-1 at Lokomotiv Moscow in Russia. The generally defensive Atlético met with Lokomotiv a team with a similar playing style. Both teams had a hard time against each other.

Fortunately, Atlético’s 0-1 came about. José Giménez headed in a cross from Hector Herrera into the short corner after eighteen minutes. Lokomotiv’s answer was not long in coming, however, a few minutes to be precise. The Russians received a penalty after hands from Herrera, who claimed an important role in the opening goal.

The referee did need help from the VAR before putting the ball on the spot. Luis Suárez disagreed and wanted to see the VAR images too. He got yellow for that. Anton Miranchuk finally shot the penalty kick in: 1-1.

It was a frustrating night for Atlético. The Spaniards saw after more than an hour how the arbitration Suárez’s 1-2 was rejected. He was offside. The winning goal no longer came.
