PT Harapan Bangsa Kita (GK Hebat) claims the pictorial snack incident Kaesang Pangarep served on the plane PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk is a misunderstanding. The reason is that the product with the picture of President Joko Widodo’s second son should be banned from being sold to SOEs.
The management of GK Hebat said the snacks were the result of the company’s collaboration with PT Jaya Swarasa Agung Tbk (TAYS) which was established in early 2022. The collaboration aims to encourage the retail market in the form of ambassadorship and co-branding for the “Tricks” product.
This was conveyed through a press release sent by one of the founders of GK Hebat and the first son of President Joko Widodo, Gibran Rakabuming Raka via WhatsApp message, Monday (17/1).
“GK Hebat has an agreement with TAYS not to sell Tricks products with an illustration of Kaesang Pangarep’s face to State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) and not to take part in negotiations with Garuda Indonesia or its subsidiary, Aerofood ACS,” as quoted from the press release.
In a press release, it was stated that TAYS had collaborated with PT Arofood Indonesia (Aerofood ACS) before working with GK Hebat. Tays provides Tricks products to Aerofood ACS for distribution through its client airlines.
“This collaboration was forged before TAYS partnered with GK Great,” as explained in the press release.
Tays Bakers CEO Alexander Anwar said it would use standard packaging without Kaesang illustrations for distribution on the airline. “We will exchange all Tricks products on Aerofood ACS with standard packaging,” he said.
Garuda Indonesia President Director Irfan Setiaputra also confirmed that the snacks had also been withdrawn.
“We’re pulling,” Irfan told CNNIndonesia.com.
