At the time of our arrival, the children were already standing in line in the kindergarten yard bathed in spring sunlight. The couples were already holding hands, and at the beginning and end of the groups, guardian aunts and nannies were keeping an eye on the order so that Gizella’s weekly Tuesday program could begin.
– Our whole week-long event serves the purpose of becoming Boldog Gizella Kindergarten as much as possible, that is, that we can put together their identity with a community-forming force, so that we are aware of who we are in the new institution? That is why we came up with the idea that we and the children should know as much as possible about Boldog Gizella, who she was, and why we chose her as our namesake. Of course, we prepared programs not only for children, but also for parents, said the head of the institution, Katalin Skrabákné Ruff.
The holiday week started already on Sunday, May 7, the opening of which was organized jointly with the Bodajki Church by the Catholic kindergarten. The parish priest of Bodajki, Tamás Mórocz, invited everyone to the church, where the event began with the holy mass. After that, the children and the parents who were there placed wreaths on the statue of the Holy Family, and then there was a little love party for the families in the garden, and lots of pre-hidden sweets for the children in the courtyard of the shrine.
– We tried to make this program an experience for the children, despite the fact that it was actually an official opening. Did we also tell you how we became Boldog Gizella Kindergarten at that time? We were looking for a female person because we thought that a female name from the ranks of the saints would definitely be good for our kindergarten. According to the legend, Gizella and St. István, as well as Prince Imre, once visited Bodajk, even by boat. There is this group of statues in front of the kindergarten because the legend is connected to Bodaj. That’s why we thought that Gizella’s personality was close to the place, to the place of worship and to us, recalled the head kindergarten teacher.
