Hepatitis B disease is caused by hepatitis B virus (HBV) which infects the liver or liver. In general, the symptoms of infection with the liver due to the HBV virus cause yellowing of the eyes and skin, abdominal pain, cloudy urine and even itching to the point of swelling or shrinking of the liver.

According to dr. Krisma Kurnia, hepatitis B that causes infection, can be divided into acute infections and chronic infections. HBV infection in acute conditions can occur within a period of six months. “Treatment of this acute condition can be done by immediately visiting the health service to get the right treatment,” explained Krisma.

The immune system, he continued, can be assisted with a hepatitis vaccine that provides antibodies or immunity to the hepatitis B virus. The body’s immune system cannot fight infection.

Krisma explained that infection in the chronic stage can cause complications, namely liver cancer and cirrhosis (damage to the liver due to liver disease), occurring over a long period of time, which is between 10 to 15 years. Krisma explained that hepatitis B can be cured through special medical treatment and can be prevented by getting Hepatitis B vaccination which is usually given within a certain time.
