Giuseppe Conte seems really intent on launching a takeover bid on Elly Schlein’s Democratic Party in the wake of the Apulian scandals. The leader of the 5 Star Movement is a guest on Tuesday 9 April of Bianca Berlinguer on È semper Cartabianca, on Rete 4, and after the “cold” handshake with the dem secretary he comments: with Schlein “it’s not a personal matter. I understand that there “it is the attention of the media system. We are discussing serious issues, which are at the center of the program that Schlein has given herself to relaunch her party. Put yourself in our shoes: on the territories we have made a courageous choice” evaluating the alliance with the Democratic Party on a case-by-case basis, but “we cannot go below a certain bar with regards to legality and the fight against corruption”.

The Movement withdrew from the center-left primaries for the municipal elections in Bari after the investigation into the votes bought in two municipalities in the area. And now Conte announces important news: “On Thursday morning I will hold a press conference in Bari in which we will announce the need for a turning point”, he says. Berlinguer insists on knowing what it is about, but nothing, the former “people’s lawyer” escapes: “We will clarify what is meant by this turning point because it is absolutely not possible for us to continue putting our heads under the carpet.
