Giuliano Giannichedda Interview: Juventus Season, Transfer Window, and Player Expectations

Giuliano Giannichedda, a former Juventus midfielder, was interviewed by Mirko Di Natale to get his views on Juventus’ season. He also mentions the upcoming transfer window.

The draw against Genoa:

« It was a match that Juventus played as they did in the last period, they attacked a little higher and had a good match. It’s a shame about the goal we conceded, I had the impression that the team managed their lead well. Genoa, for their part, managed to equalize, but in general it is never easy to face such an intense team on their own field. »

Why is Juventus no longer playing like in the first days?

« It is clear that Allegri must manage the players’ characteristics as best as possible, in order to put them in a position to play good matches. This is a way of guaranteeing the solidity that it did not have before. »

What should we expect from Matias Soulé, Kaio Jorge and Enzo Barreneche, who are on loan at Frosinone?

« I expect a good match from them, firstly because they are members of Frosinone and secondly because they will want to show that they have the stuff of Juve. I think they will want to put the management and the coach in a difficult position, in order to convince them to bet on them next year: Kaio found the net last weekend and is working to get back to full fitness , Soulé is among the best in our Serie A for goals and assists. »

Should we sell Matias Soulé in the event of an offer of 35/40 million euros?

« This will be the dynamic for the month of June, because we will first have to know the budget. If Juve were to enter the top 4, as far as I am concerned, such a young player, I would definitely keep him. »

Juventus will have a great season?

« Juve’s mentality will push the club and the players to try to go all the way. In addition, facing a great team like Inter, which has two teams and is favorite for the Scudetto, we know the DNA of the Bianconeri and I am sure that they will not give up until the END. »

Could a possible arrival of Kalvin Phillips help Juventus fight against Inter?

« He is not a player who can bring you closer or not to a path that Inter have been following for a few years, Phillips is a very good player who is already part of a top club and could serve as characteristics to this Juventus. Let’s see who will strengthen the Juve department, who will move and, most importantly, if they can move anything. Taking for the sake of taking is never very wise. »

Should we recruit two midfielders?

« It always depends on the cost, because the names mentioned are all very good footballers. I would take one, but a big one. Who ? Phillips, but also De Paul. The choice would be a player who already has experience in a certain context and who can bring a winning mentality. There are pillars in the team like Danilo and Rabiot, who in turn learned totems like Chiellini and Buffon. If you want to win, you need great personalities and people who can help you develop that great mentality. »

Dusan Vlahovic’s bad pass:

« There is always a lot of pressure on Juve number 9, I don’t see him very calm but the coach and the club have confidence in him. He always seems to want to score three goals and crush the goal, but it can’t be like that every time. Italian football is difficult, we have to stay calm and he has to continue working as he already does. Only then will things get back into place. » (Statements via Tuttojuve.com).
