Giuliani wins Razzie for Worst Supporting Actor in “Borat”

LOS ANGELES, Apr 24 (Reuters) – Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s unintentional appearance on “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm” was named one of the worst performances of the year by voters for the annual Razzie Awards on Saturday.

The Razzies, or Golden Raspberry Awards, were created in 1980 and are the counterpart to Hollywood’s dazzling Oscars, which takes place on Sunday.

Giuliani was voted worst supporting actor for his brief appearance in the sequel to Sacha Baron Cohen’s “Borat.” The former mayor was filmed unknowingly in a hotel room with an actress posing as a reporter. Giuliani has said that nothing inappropriate happened.

MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell’s “Absolute Proof” was voted Worst Movie of the Year. The film made unsubstantiated allegations of fraud in the 2020 U.S. presidential election.

Lindell, an outspoken supporter of former US President Donald Trump, was also named Worst Actor.

“Music,” directed by singer Sia about a girl with autism, received the most Razzies, with three accolades, including Worst Actress for Kate Hudson.

The Razzie winners were chosen by 1,097 members from more than twenty countries. Members register online and pay a $ 40 membership fee.
