GIS withdraws food products from stores all over Poland! The Chief Sanitary Inspectorate issued warnings regarding the recall of food, the consumption of which may be hazardous to health. The recalled batches of products include contaminated with ethylene oxide, contaminated, or contain harmful substances, so take GIS alerts seriously. These products have been recalled by GIS for a reason. Due to the GIS decision, popular retail chains such as Lidl, Biedronka, Auchan, Netto, Żabka are withdrawing products from stores. Public food alerts issued by GIS are messages about products that may pose a health risk. They are directed to the public in situations where there is a suspicion that a given food may be unsafe. Then the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate provides information that allows to identify the product (name, use-by date, batch number, etc.), along with a description of the risk and actions taken in connection with it. The warning is for public information only and is not an administrative decision.

The Chief Sanitary Inspectorate controls food sold in stores. A given batch of the product may be withdrawn, among others when:

  • the product contains bacteria harmful to health;
  • the product contains hazardous substances;
  • the product is contaminated or contaminated;
  • incorrect information was found on the product label, e.g. concerning the content of allergens, alcohol, etc .;
  • there is no relevant information in Polish on the product label, e.g. about allergens.

Each warning issued by GIS contains recommendations for consumers. In the great majority of cases, you should not eat the product mentioned in the warning. It is worth contacting the store where we purchased the product and find out if we can return it. Sometimes the manufacturer publishes information on his website on how to proceed and make a possible return.
