A Barie (Gironde), the club Rotary of Réolais and bastides came Thursday, May 6, 2021 to give a check to the two farmer-bakers at Fournil des Dam’s, Damien Pallaruelo and Damien Tauzin, whose activity was impacted after the floods last February.
This contribution, the amount of which has not been disclosed, supports this young company born in 2019. “These difficulties could have cooled your ambitions or desires, with the observation of significant material damage” notes the president of this Rotary branch. , Luc Sonilhac.
“The pleasure of serving with kindness”
“Fortunately, the insurance companies played the game well, but there was still a little lack. Already because you were not able to produce bread immediately (the normal recovery took place at the beginning of April, editor’s note) and also, because of the firewood that was loaded by the Garonne, a disaster not supported by the insurers. “
This Rotary donation, “without any compensation, just for the pleasure of serving with benevolence the sector which is his” declares the president, deeply touched the bakers: “it encourages us to continue” confide the two Damiens who sow, store , sort, mold… for bread making from A to Z.
Manufacturing and points of sale
Currently, they offer only one variety of bread (130kg per batch, twice a week) but they would like to diversify their offer. They only sell by reservation, Wednesday (06.79.82.69.99) and Friday (06.87.49.46.92).
Customers can come and collect their bread at the Fournil on these days, between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Or in the relay points of sale: the La Porte des Epices and A la Maud shops in La Réole, La Maison café social et solidaire in Bieujac and at Amap de Bazas (on Wednesdays).
Opening soon also on Thursday
From September, the two Damiens plan to reduce the working time of their other respective professional activities: Damien Pallaruelo is in charge of the antenna of Radio Entre 2 Mers in Sauveterre-de-Guyenne and Damien Tauzin agricultural teacher in Blanquefort. “This will make it possible to set up an additional day of bread-making each week on Thursday,” they announce.
Farmer bakers have also been contacted for sales projects perhaps in Langon, which gives good hope for the continuation of this activity.
