Gironde: after the floods, Macao is recognized as a natural disaster

Floods and landslides had hit the municipality of Macau (Gironde) of From 20 to 22 June 2022. The ministerial decree of 21 November 2022 recognizing the state of natural disaster has been published this Thursday 8 December 2022 in the Official Gazette, recognized the state of natural disaster for the municipality of Gironde after last month’s rain.

“The accumulations of precipitation during the event have a return period of more than 10 years”, reads the reasons for the decision published in the Official Gazette.

10-day period for disaster victims

From this Thursday, December 8, the victims have a Period of 10 days to declare their damage. Affected residents must “deposit an estimate of their damage with their insurance company, in order to obtain compensation damages incurred“, specifies the prefecture of the Gironde.
