This Saturday, stage 14 of the Giro d’Italia 2022 will be held, classified as mid-mountain, despite the fact that it has a slope worthy of an alpine fraction, for which great emotions may be presented.
The fraction will travel 147 kilometers, starting in Santena and ending in Turin. It will be a short but very intense route that will not give the cyclists a break. In total, there will be 3,000 meters of elevation gain.
The cyclists will have to climb five mountain passes, two of them will be climbed twice (Superga and Colle della Maddalena). Here we present them:
- Kilometer 43.3: Il Pilonetto, third category (3.6 km at 7.2%).
- Kilometer 83.2: Superga, second category (5.1 to 8.2%).
- Kilometer 98.7: Colle della Maddalena, second category (3.6 km to 7.3).
- Kilometer 119.7: Superga.
- Kilómetro 135.2: Colle della Maddalena.
There will be two scoring sprints. The first, before the first ascent to Superga; and the second 4.5 kilometers from the finish line.
The last 700 meters of the stage are completely flat and on asphalt, on one of the Turin tracks.
