Giro 2022: Tom Dumoulin is struggling with back problems

Tom Dumoulin has problems with his back. The Dutchman from Jumbo-Visma told this on Wednesday after the eleventh stage of the Giro d’Italia. “It’s not going great”, he can still laugh a bit Eurosport.
When it comes to the upcoming mountain stages in the Giro d’Italia, Dumoulin admits that he has some physical problems. “Honestly, I don’t feel any better. I have some problems with my back, so it’s not going great,” said the Limburger, who has already put a good general classification out of his mind.
In the eleventh stage of the Giro d’Italia, Dumoulin crossed the finish line in 71st place. In the standings he is 33rd at more than 19 minutes from pink jersey Juan Pedro López. “It was a quiet day, a day to get through well. We don’t have a sprinter and no real rider for the classification anymore, so we didn’t have to do much,” he looks back.
Last week Dumoulin was an important link in the stage victory of teammate Koen Bouwman in the stage to Potenza. He was fourth in that stage.
