The little girl had only one option after the apartment was engulfed in flames and that was to survive a twenty-meter jump.

“She was so scared that she said, I prefer jumping than being burned,” Lavelle Tingman, a resident of the neighborhood, told CNN.

The fire started around 6 a.m. Wednesday in a 17-story building and quickly got out of hand for authorities.

“The firefighters mentioned that she was forced to make this very difficult decision because the fire was brought too close to carry out an intervention,” CNN reporter Dave Carlin said in his report.

During this nightmare, her mother was out of town and it was her aunt who was responsible for looking after her.

“She landed on the ground. I believe she was well aware that she should not jump to the pavement, ”said Deputy Leader Anthony Montera.

The courageous young girl was immediately transported by ambulance to carry out a complete examination of her state of health.
