Girl murder solved after 40 years, only suspect goes free | Abroad

Kelly walked home from her school in Columbus, Ohio, on September 20, 1982, but never got there. Her lifeless body was found two days later in a corn field. She turned out to be sexually abused.

The police would now have found the killer. It concerns 67-year-old Harold Warren Jarrell, who has since died at the age of 67 in 1996.

His DNA matches traces of the crime scene, American media report.

Harold has never been caught by the police for this case. He was convicted in 1977 of the kidnap of an 8-year-old girl. He was released in 1982, about six months before Kelly Ann disappeared.

Although the perpetrator can no longer be tried, the Prosser family is happy that the police have continued to search for the perpetrator for all these years.
