Marie Ulven, better known under the artist name Girl in red, has been strongly recommended by a specialist to return home from touring due to damage to the vocal cords.
She shares that the story feature on Instagram.

She says that she went to a neck specialist in Norway at the end of April, after her US tour ended. There she was told that she had damage to her vocal cords and that singing would become increasingly difficult for her.
However, a tour was scheduled for April 30th.
– Since I did not want to disappoint everyone who was going to my concerts in Europe and the UK, I went on tour two days later, Girl in red writes on Instagram.
The artist then writes that she consulted another specialist in London today, who made the recommendation to go home and see a speech therapist. This is to re-learn the way she uses her voice, according to the artist.
– If not, I may have to have surgery, she continues.
– Out of my control
The tour has already been postponed previously due to the corona. Girl in red writes that this, combined with the fact that the fans were looking forward to seeing her, makes it an even harder choice to make.
– I do not want to cancel more concerts. I do not want to be perceived as an artist or person who can not accomplish what they were supposed to do.
– I seriously can not point out enough how much this breaks my heart. I feel an overwhelming feeling of disappointing you, but right now this is beyond my control, she writes on Instagram.
She concludes by saying that what she does have control over is what she does in the future to get better.
– I will do everything I can to prevent this from ever happening again.
