Girl In Red, currently touring the United States, is Spellemann of the Year. Billie Eilish took care of conveying the news.

The American artist awarded two prizes to Marie Ulven (23) from Horten, aka Girl In Red; for the category of this year’s release and the fiddler of the year.
The wolf is currently on a headliner tour in the United States.

Eilish also gave the Wolf Spellemann Prize for this year’s release, Girl In Red debut album “If I Could Make It Go Quiet”.
The session was recorded at the Coachella Festival in California last weekend, where both Eilish and Ulven played.
– Now it’s filling Coachella, damn it, the artist exclaimed before she continued to thank everyone who has contributed to the success over the past year.
Earlier Friday it was Norwegian time known that Girl in Red had to cancel two concerts in the USincluding the one she was to hold in Phoenix Friday night.
– I have tried everything to make my throat get better, but I know I need to rest again, Ulven wrote on his Instagram story.
Billie Eilish’s brother and producer Finneas is the producer on the Girl In Red single “Serotonin”, which was nominated for song of the year.
On June 26, Girl In Red will warm up for Billie Eilish at The O2 Arena in London.
Record number of winning chances
Girl In Red had the opportunity to win eight awards below this year’s Spellemann Prize Award. That makes her historic on the nomination front.
The wolf was nominated in the following categories:
- alternative pop / rock
- song of the year
- songwriter of the year
- this year’s music video
- producer of the year (together with Matias Téllez)
- lyricist of the year
- this year’s release
And could also be this year’s Spellemann, which went well.
–In addition, she landed this year’s songwriter and thus this year’s release. This year’s producer was Cashmere Cat.
– I have the writing barrier of all time now, so this is very cool, said Ulven about the songwriting award.
Girl In Red was this year’s most winning Spellemann, with three awards.
The only other artist to receive more than one award was the village rapper Hagle, who was both this year’s newcomer – and thus received the Gramo scholarship of a quarter of a million – and the first ever winner of the party music category.
Won this year’s song for the second time
The prize for Song of the Year went to Chris Holsten for “The smile in your own mirror”. The prize was awarded by the artist Espen Eiborg unveiling a picture of the winner painted in 30 minutes.
Chris Holsten is the third artist to win this year’s song two years in a row.
The first two were Lene Marlin in 1998 and 1999 and Kurt Nilsen in 2003 and 2004.
It is thus 17 years since the last time an artist made a similar achievement.
– It’s completely silly company to be in. Sounds nice, Holsten says to VG.
–Holsten is the fourth to win this year’s song twice; Madcon won in 2007 and 2010.
– To the boy who has always been afraid to pat himself on the shoulder. Now I’ll do it: Chris, you deserved this, Holsten said to himself in his thank you speech.
To VG, Holsten expresses great joy for the award:
– It’s completely damn sick, I’m still shivering. I was absolutely sure that “The finest Chevy’n” would take the prize.
Last year he won for the duet “If the world” together with Frida Ånnevik, a cover song by Julia Michaels and JP Saxe’s “If The World Was Ending” translated into Norwegian.
However, “The Smile in Your Own Mirror” is written by himself and four others.
– I must honestly admit that it is a little extra rewarding when it is my story, my words. Last year it was someone else’s song, so I set this a little higher.
Thanks to the mother and the dogs
The camel ran away with the award in the hip hop category. He thanked his cancer-stricken mother and both his dogs, “for not making a difference between them.”
– I want to thank my mother who gave birth to me. We have had a tough last year, said Kamelen who had his mother by his side when he received the award during a recording from his hometown Bergen.
Host Tarjei Strøm has traveled around the country to deliver the prizes to the winners who were not present during the live broadcast on Friday.
In a feature in part 2 of tonight’s broadcast, Aurora received the award for this year’s international success by Sei Selina, before the latter received an award from Aurora for the music video “Only When You’re Asleep”.
– They tricked us, the two women stated with a laugh and thus revealed that they had only thought that each of them would hand out a prize, not receive one at a time.
