Girl group NewJeans kicked off the new year with a new concert titled “OMG” that was released on Monday.
The lead single, “OMG,” is a mix of hip-hop and R&B about the dread of meeting someone new for the first time, especially during the winter, according to the band’s agency ADOR.
The agency said, “The song is about wanting to be with someone, but the awkward distance and reserved emotion people feel at first. “Like the last edition, it’s also a story of growth and how we grow together. »
Last month, the girl group released their dance single EP “Dito,” which took music charts by storm in and outside Korea.
The song topped the QQ Music Chinese Popular Music and New Releases charts as well as the music video chart on December 20, one day after its release on Monday.
The two music videos for “Ditto” – titled Side A and Side B – also reached No. 1 and No. 2 on the YouTube charts in Korea and entered the top 10 charts in the UK, US, Australia, in Japan and France.
After debuting their EP ‘New Jeans’ last August, the girl group has been one of the K-pop scene’s most exciting debuts to date. It set a new record for a debut K-pop group by selling 311,271 copies of their debut EP ‘New Jeans’ in one week. The songs “Attention”, “Hype Boy” and “Cookie” made it to the Billboard and Spotify charts.
