Girl dies from rhinoplasty, medical center seized

The preventive seizure of the medical center where twenty-two-year-old Margaret Spada, originally from Syracuse, who died three days later in hospital, underwent partial rhinoplasty surgery, was validated by the investigating judge. A provision motivated by the judge who accepted the request from the Rome prosecutor’s office, due to the risk of repetition of the crime.

The Nas verification

As part of the prosecutor’s investigation, which sees two doctors under investigation for manslaughter, the Nas carabinieri will carry out a new inspection to verify the presence of a defibrillator and drugs to be administered in the event of an emergency in the facility.

In recent days, no documents, medical records, informed consent or registration relating to the operation or accounting documents were found in the facility.

The video shot by Margaret’s boyfriend

Meanwhile, a video of a few seconds is on record, shot in the medical centre, by the boyfriend who filmed from the door the moment in which the doctors were trying to resuscitate the girl.

The operation, a partial rhinoplasty, would have cost just under 3 thousand euros and had been booked in the summer by the young woman. The cell phone of the victim, who would have made arrangements via WhatsApp for the surgery with one of the two doctors, will now be analyzed.

The autopsy on the girl’s body

Meanwhile, from the autopsy carried out today on the girl’s body at the Tor Vergata forensic medicine institute, it emerges that Margaret died of cardiac arrest in a situation that can be linked to acute suffering, the origin of which will have to be ascertained with histological and toxicological tests. The toxicological tests will also have to clarify what was administered to the girl before and after the illness. The party’s consultants also participated in the autopsy, ordered by the Rome prosecutor’s office in the file which sees two doctors from the medical center where the girl had gone under investigation for manslaughter.

Parents’ pain

“We hope that no one will ever be a victim of what happened to our daughter Margaret” say the girl’s parents, through their lawyer, Alessandro Vinci. “We ask that our pain be respected.”
