Girl (6) seriously injured after collision with garbage truck Inland

A police spokesman reports that the child has been transported to the hospital by ambulance. A trauma helicopter was called up but eventually failed to arrive. No further statements were made about the exact nature of the injuries, but the police spokesperson does estimate the situation seriously.

The Molenbochtplein is located in a child-rich neighborhood. It is a round, green square surrounded by mansions and 1930s houses. The youth from the neighborhood plays a lot. The injured girl was hit by a scooter. Local residents seek support from each other in an attempt to give a place to what they have seen. Just like family and the police officers directly involved, they are offered victim assistance.

At the scene of the accident, the scooter with the red handles is on the sidewalk. Local residents who saw the accident and gave first aid do not want to say anything about what exactly happened. The resigned co-driver of the garbage truck of the Brabant Waste Team (BAT) does not want to say anything either.

“I really haven’t seen it”

At around 1 p.m. the garbage truck was moved back to the scene of the accident for technical investigation. At that moment the driver told his story to the police again on the spot. The driver of the garbage truck was not arrested.

Fragments of that conversation could be heard from behind the police ribbon. The relatively calm-looking driver raised his arms to show that he also doesn’t understand how this could have happened and says, “When I see it, I see it. But I really haven’t seen it. ”

A local resident gets into his parked car with his son. He opens his window and expresses his amazement at the accident in English: “Many children are playing here. Especially when the weather is nice. Mine too. But they shoot in all directions. So you should always pay attention with the car. Terrible what has happened now. You shouldn’t think about something like this happening to your own child. I hope from the bottom of my heart that this baby will be fine. ”
