The man had injected children with contaminated anesthetic for dental treatment; one girl died in the practice and two other children barely survived. Now he should go to prison for ten and a half years.
An anesthetist was sentenced to ten and a half years in prison by the Frankfurt regional court for, among other things, the manslaughter of a girl. The German injected a total of four children with contaminated anesthetic in a dental practice in Kronberg (Hochtaunuskreis) in September 2021 and committed other blatant hygiene errors. The little patients suffered from blood poisoning, and the four-year-old girl died in the dentist’s chair that night.
Anesthetist downplays girl’s death
In the case of the three surviving children, it was attempted homicide by omission, said the presiding judge in her verdict. The man, who lives in Bensheim, dismissed the questions of the concerned parents of the three other children in the days after the girl’s death. He told the dentist that “you shouldn’t make such a big wave.” In the end, the parents took their children to the clinic anyway, and a boy and a girl barely survived.
