The accident happened around 6.30 pm at the intersection of HAN and IJssellaan. The girl suffered serious injuries and later died in hospital. There is a large hole in the windshield of the car.
Arrest
According to broadcaster Gelderland, the car came after the collision about 50 meters away to a stop.
The driver, a 33-year-old man from Arnhem, has been arrested. It is not clear whether he committed a traffic violation. Police are calling on witnesses to come forward.
A police spokesperson told RTL Nieuws that the investigation is still ongoing. “It is still too early to draw conclusions. The driver has been detained for investigation. With such a serious investigation, we naturally want everything to turn out well.”
