Girl (12) bites through cuffs and escapes kidnapper: ‘She is a hero’ | Abroad

A motorist driving past a residential area in Dadeville, Alabama, on Monday saw a young girl walking alone by the side of the road and stopped to take a look. When the girl told her story, the driver immediately called the emergency services.

The twelve-year-old girl appeared to have escaped from a house where she had been held captive for almost a week by a 37-year-old man. Although her captor had drugged her several times during that time, she still managed to escape from his grasp. The girl cleared the shackles that had fastened her to a bed by biting and running away.

Police immediately went to the house where the girl was being held and found two bodies in a state of decomposition. Not much later, the owner, 37-year-old Jose Paulino Pascual-Reyes, was arrested. He is now charged with multiple murder and kidnapping. “All thanks to this girl,” said local sheriff Jimmy Abbett. “She’s a real hero.”
