A twelve-year-old girl was recently beaten up by five other teenagers in Helmond after she discovered that there was a hate account about her on TikTok. According to the police, the victim wanted to discuss this, but was subsequently assaulted.
The incident happened last Friday on the Noord Parallelweg in Helmond, reports the police on Facebook on Thursday. The girl is said to have made a nice video with her friends a few weeks ago and posted it on TikTok. As a result of this video, a hate account would have been created about her.
The girl soon found out who had created the account and asked these girls to meet her to discuss it. They had both agreed to bring a friend. At the agreed location, however, the victim was met by five girls aged eleven to thirteen. Almost immediately she was pushed and beaten by two of them. The other three encouraged the fighting girls and made videos of the abuse.
A witness saw everything happening and intervened. The witness also suffered and was abused by the five girls. The abused girl ended up having a concussion, bruises and a lump on her head. According to the police, she suffers from anxiety, nightmares and flashbacks.
Account created to film abuse
Police investigations show that the TikTok account was created to be able to assault the victim and make videos of it. The five girls have been invited to the police station for an interview with their parents in recent days. They will hear later what punishment they will receive.
“We often see that bullying on social media, among other things, is the starting point for these kinds of quarrels and assaults. These are then filmed and the images of this are shared on social media,” writes the police, calling for not participating in this and the images also not to share.
